In the fast moving world of food retail the client can’t afford to wait. Waitrose need to know that their suppliers will provide a fast, honest response to every enquiry.
The Challenge
Waitrose require a traditional temporary supply service to cover staff holidays, outstanding vacancies and seasonal peaks.
Speed is always of the essence in a fast moving, food retail environment and Waitrose must be able to rely on us for an honest, rapid response to every request for staff.
With high quality standards, 7 different working locations and fairly complicated arrangements for parking and security, staff supplied to Waitrose must be carefully briefed to ensure their safe arrival and adherence to company policy.
To facilitate Management Control, Waitrose also require separate invoices for each category of staff and for each site supplied.
The Wise Solution
Waitrose was one of Wise Employment’s first clients when we opened our Bracknell office in 1993.
From the beginning we have worked very closely with Waitrose to ensure that we have a full and accurate understanding of their needs and priorities.
We know that it is crucial to the success of their operation that they may rely on the attendance and efficiency of high calibre temporary staff and
We will never supply them with anything less - even if it means losing a booking to one of our competitors. Our honesty is one of the reasons that we have won and retained their business.
All temporaries supplied are fully briefed on:
- Company Standards - Company Policies - Site Geography - Site Facilities - Arrangements for Parking - Check In Procedures
This briefing is supported by a detailed Information Sheet for Temporaries Working at Waitrose.
Wise Employment produce weekly consolidated invoices for each site, and each category of staff.
The Outcome
- Wise Employment despatched over 500 application forms in response to telephone enquiries - Nearly 300 completed forms were returned for consideration - 103 candidates were short listed for interview following pre-selection and telephone interviews - 45 offers of employment were made and only one rejected
The Campaign was successful for Thames Water on several levels:
- Complete focus on the task meant that both recruitment deadlines and candidate expectations were met - Effective pre-selection meant that specialist Thames Water staff spent less time on non core activities - All immediate vacancies were filled and a waiting list produced for future opportunities - The cost was comparable to the provision of an in-house service
