By undertaking sole supply status for Swindon Contract Services; Wise Employment has created a regular pool of security-cleared workers who are available at short notice.
The Challenge
Swindon Contract Services (part of Swindon Borough Council) provide cleansing services for the local schools. They have a regular requirement for up to 15 temporary cleaners to supplement their permanent workforce.
In the past employment agencies have found it difficult to recruit and retain a regular workforce for Swindon Contract Services, because the hours required are antisocial and relatively short.
The Wise Solution
By undertaking sole supply for these assignments, Wise Employment has regular work to offer a small pool of temporaries whose personal circumstances dictate evening and night work.
Selected temporaries are placed on our Swindon Contract Services register and are allocated work on a rotation basis. This means that all staff are confident of achieving a minimum number of hours per week and will wait on stand by for these assignments rather than undertaking work for other organisations.
To ensure that replacements are provided for unexpected absence, Wise Employment provides a 24-hour telephone service to Swindon Contract Services. Those temporaries not currently on assignment are briefed to expect short notice assignments up to an agreed hour of the night.
The Outcome
This solution suits all parties. Swindon Contract Services have a regular team of trusted temporary workers at their disposal and are not continually receiving new staff for work. Temporary workers who are available for restricted hours each day now know that they will achieve a certain weekly income. Through total commitment to the client and intelligent management of the workforce Wise Employment has managed to make filling these assignments a relatively easy and profitable exercise.
