Wise Employment seconded one of their Senior Employment Consultants to Motorola’s Personnel Department, to assist with a major Recruitment Drive.
The Challenge
Motorola needed to fill 40 engineering vacancies within a 3-month deadline. The Personnel Department already had a very heavy workload and Project Support was committed to other projects.
Quality candidates for these specialist vacancies were hard to find in a competitive market.
The Wise Solution
Wise Employment agreed to lend one of their Senior Employment Consultants to Motorola’s Personnel Department for the duration of the project.
This Consultant worked in a team with a Personnel Manager, H.R. Adviser and Project Support Coordinator to ensure that the project was successfully completed within the allocated time frame.
Having established a base within the Personnel area, our Consultant:
- Contacted recommended specialist agencies to request their support - Assisted with the organisation and implementation of a briefing day for representatives from the chosen agencies - Set up a database for all curriculum vitae received from the chosen agencies - Attended an open day arranged for direct applicants from media advertising - Became proficient in the use of bespoke software on which all job specifications and curriculum vitae from direct applications were stored - Received, logged and input all applications onto the relevant database - Forwarded curriculum vitae to the relevant Engineers for assessment - Liaised with agencies and direct applicants to arrange 1st interviews with the relevant Motorola Engineers - Sent rejection letters to all direct applicants - Liaised with agencies and direct applicants to arranged 2nd interviews with Motorola’s Human Resources Advisers - Coordinated all job offers with agencies, including relocation packages where appropriate - Produced weekly progress reports for meetings with the rest of the Project Team
The Outcome
By the project deadline, 38 of the 40 vacancies had been filled and applicants short-listed for the remaining two.
