Longevity of Wise Employment’s team and a determination to seek better ways of working has sustained our recruitment partnership with Johnson & Johnson for nearly 10 years.

The Challenge

Johnson & Johnson are a blue chip company, with an excellent reputation within the local area. Salaries are competitive and working conditions good. Consequently they expect to be able to recruit and retain the best candidates available in the market.

There is a wide range of office-based staff working at Johnson & Johnson’s Bracknell and Ascot sites, including customer service operatives, contract managers, bid support staff, clerks and personal assistants. The specific requirements will vary dependant on the post, but all staff should be able to demonstrate academic achievement and a stable work record.

The Wise Solution

Wise Employment has been supporting Johnson & Johnson with the recruitment and selection of temporary and permanent staff since 1994. Longevity of staff within the Bracknell branch means that several of our senior staff have worked with them for nearly 10 years and have an excellent understanding of their organisation, ethos and recruitment needs. Our Head of Operations remains actively involved with the account and is continually working with the Account Manager to find ways to enhance our service by introducing new working practices.

In 2001 our supply relationship was formalised with the introduction of a Service Level Agreement. This confirms the commitment of both parties to a successful working partnership and details the responsibilities of each in making it work. Our performance against quality criteria detailed in this document is reviewed on a regular basis.

To ensure that staff supplied for temporary work, or introduced for permanent interview, meet their exacting standards Wise Employment Consultants not only check academic and work histories and carry out in-depth interviews, but also evaluate relevant keyboard, software and secretarial skills.

Every time we submit a candidate to Johnson & Johnson we ensure that relevant skills are highlighted and results of evaluations specified. We do this using a Candidate Profile, which has been tailored to the requirement of the particular vacancy.

To prepare permanent candidates for their interview and to provide Johnson & Johnson with more information about their work experiences, candidates are asked to complete a Previous Experience Review Form, which focuses on skills and abilities relevant to the current vacancy. Information provided on this form is then discussed in more detail at interview.

The Outcome

Wise Employment has developed such a good understanding of Johnson & Johnson’s requirements that we intuitively know which candidates will be a good fit for their organisation. However, to ensure that our vision of their requirement is always current we maintain honest and open communication regarding all temporaries supplied and CVs submitted.

Johnson & Johnson tell us that they appreciate our continued enthusiasm and commitment to meeting and exceeding their requirements. They value our honesty and the speed with which we respond to their requests. By maintaining this focus on their needs and avoiding the trap of complacency we aim to continue working with them for the next 9 years and beyond.
