Wise Employment has been recruiting multi-lingual temporary staff for H I Europe since we first opened in Maidenhead. Our commitment to meeting their fluctuating needs has led to our appointment as their Preferred Supplier.



The Challenge

Recruiting temporary staff for market research organisations is always a challenge, due to short lead times on relatively high volumes of workers and unpredictability of campaign duration. When you add the additional requirement of fluency in another language the pressure is really on!

The Wise Solution

H I Europe’s preference is for native speakers with English as a 2nd language. However, our Consultants must ensure that the candidates’ English is fluent, to ensure that databases are updated in a coherent manner to facilitate data analysis and forward action.

Wise Employment promotes its capabilities as a supplier of multi-lingual staff including assessment by skilled language tutors, in line with national standards. Our assessments are geared towards telephone-based staff working in a call centre / customer service environment. This means that we naturally attract a higher level of multi-lingual candidates than our competitors and that we have more work to offer them. The presence of a number of language colleges in the area means that Maidenhead has a relatively high volume of bi-lingual candidates, who are attracted through our high street window display. Close liaison with the colleges also generates high quality applicants, as does networking through our existing temporary workforce.

The work at H I Europe is attractive in that pay rates are very competitive and calls are of a business-to-business nature. However, the volatile nature of the work means that we are not able to guarantee continuity of assignment. We find that honesty up-front and a proactive approach to offering work with other clients during campaign breaks is the best way to promote retention.

The Outcome

H I Europe trust Wise Employment to select appropriately skilled staff, with realistic expectations of the nature and continuity of the work to ensure that they can fulfil their clients’ contract. It is indicative of their faith in our service that we have been appointed as their Preferred Supplier and are offered first opportunity to fill all assignments.
