Wise Employment has worked with GAME (previously Electronics Boutique) through many stages of their development. We have tailored our service to meet the changing requirements of a fast moving, dynamic retail organisation through relocation, merger and re-branding.



The Challenge

Wise Employment has a service history with GAME/Electronics Boutique dating back to 1998.

Electronics Boutique already had a supply agreement for commercial temporary staff, which pre-dated their relocation to Bracknell. However, following the successful launch of new product lines, their new Distribution Centre needed reliable warehouse temporaries, which their Preferred Supplier could not provide. On the basis of a recommendation from this supplier, Wise Employment met with the Distribution Centre Manager and gained the opportunity to supply.

Having established a reputation within the Distribution Centre for reliability and honesty, in 1999 we were invited to become a “back up” supplier for the provision of temporary and permanent recruitment services for Headquarters staff. 2000 was a particularly busy year for Electronics Boutique and Wise Employment were their most effective service partner during this time. Our friendliness, efficiency and professionalism led to Wise Employment being appointed as a Preferred Supplier in 2001, just prior to the Company’s merger with GAME. We have continued to develop our relationship with the Company through this exciting period and still hold Preferred Supply status today.

Our relationship with GAME (as the Company is now known) has been successful because we have a genuine commitment to providing a service, which meets their changing needs and have consistently outperformed other suppliers.

Although GAME is competitive within its own market sector, its remuneration package is not always sufficient to attract high calibre candidates from other sectors. Wise Employment has worked very hard to gain an appreciation of what makes GAME special as an employer and to promote the full benefits of employment with this rapidly expanding, fast moving organisation.

We have ensured that we really understand the profile of each role within the organisation, both temporary and permanent and assess applicants accordingly. Referencing is particularly important within areas where stock is held and we have enhanced this area of our service to provide additional security for GAME.

We have worked with GAME through many stages in their development: as a new employer in the area; as an established local organisation going through a merger and as a company changing their brand name and sharpening their image. The latest challenge is their imminent relocation to Basingstoke.

We have put together a business proposal for GAME, which identifies the challenges that they will face with their relocation and outlines the support that Wise Employment can provide during this exciting phase and beyond. The service specification includes:

- Market research to establish pay rates, benefit packages, major competitors for staff, skills availability and unemployment statistics in the Basingstoke area
- Design, placement and management of effective local advertising campaign
- Response management, pre-selection or contingency recruitment services as required
- Local interview facilities for Basingstoke candidates
- Provision of maps, transport timetables etc. to support recruitment
- Coordination of and support with recruitment open days in the Basingstoke area
- Effective temporary supply and management, during and after the transition period
- Familiarisation training for temporary workers
- Placement support for staff not transferring to the new location

Our commitment to this client is such that we are prepared to escalate our plans for a branch opening in Basingstoke and to make effective interim arrangements to facilitate an effective local attraction and selection campaign.
